4 Hands Brewing Company opened its 20,000 square foot brewing facility in 2011. 4 Hands offers 6 beers year-round along with a plethora of seasonal offerings. 4 Hands uses an array of barrels, from whiskey to wine, for aging their brews and giving them their unique and complex flavors. Look for the line of sour beers this summer!
Crown Valley opened a winery in 1999 but had bigger things in mind. In 2008, Crown Valley Brewery and Distilling opened a state-of-the-art Brew House in Ste. Genevieve, MO in the old Coffman school house. Crown Valley produces a number of beers, hard ciders, Fizzy Izzy Root Beer, and their Missouri Moonshine Malt Whiskey, Coldwater Whiskey, as well as gin and vodka. You can join them in at their beer garden or the winery!
Edward “Lefty” and Catherine Meier founded Excel Bottling Company in 1936. Lefty received a reward for catching a bank robber and used that to buy his first bottling machine. Excel Bottling Company has a number of soda flavors to offer including Ski, which accounts for the majority of the soda they produce. Excel Bottling Company is still operated by the Meier Family, they are one of a few remaining “mom & pop” bottlers left in the nation, and the only returnable bottling lines left in Illinois.
J. Rieger Distillery has a rich history in Kansas City, MO. In 1887, Jacob Rieger opened J. Rieger & Co. in Kansas City to start making booze. J. Rieger & Co. gained recognition as one of the biggest mail order services with a customer base of 250,000+ customers! Decades later Ryan Rieger and business partner Ryan Maybee set out to bring back the old distillery and in 2014 launched their first product, Kansas City Whiskey.
Mastermind Vodka is distilled about 30 minutes from St. Louis in Pontoon Beach, IL. Made from the highest quality corn grain from local farmers, making Mastermind gluten free while giving money back to the local community. Mastermind is one of the first to boast the title of 100% American Made Certified Ultra-Premium. Northwest Coffee Roasting Company is a St. Louis artisan roaster. They are dedicated to the craft of roasting, using a vintage Probot roaster and knowledgeable roasters to make a quality bean. They also slow roast their beans at a low temperature for a longer amount of time, giving their coffee a subtle sweetness.
O’Fallon Brewery was founded in 2000 by Fran and Tony Caradonna brewing one style, O’Fallon Gold. For two years the Caradonnas did all the brewing/selling themselves! O’Fallon now has 9 everyday beers and more than a dozen seasonal selections. In 2011, the Caradonnas sold the brewery to Jim and Debbie Gorczyca. Jim has brought more than 20 years of domestic and international brewing experience to the table. Jim's vision is simple, brew high quality beer + the right relationships = success.
Named for the gone but not forgotten Missouri town just upriver, Pinchney Bend Distillery’s mission is to create hand-crafted spirits worthy of their heritage. Opened by three long time friends, Jerry Meyer, Tom Anderson, and Ralph Haynes, Pinckney Bend sold their first bottle of gin in 2011 and haven’t looked back since, their gin is still the #1 seller. Pinckney Bend offers an award winning lineup of American whiskey, gin, three grain vodka, corn whiskey, and their very own tonic syrup.
St. Louis Brewery, Inc, maker of Schlafly Beer, was incorporated in 1989 by St. Louis natives Dan Kopman and Tom Schlafly. They are Missouri’s largest locally owned independent brewery. Schlafly brews over fifty unique styles of beer every year, many which are exclusively served at The Schlafly Tap Room in Downtown St. Louis or the Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. Schlafly was the first new new production brewery to open in St. Louis since the end of Prohibition.
Still 630 was founded in 2012 by David Weglarz in Downtown St. Louis. David is proud to say that every piece of his business, from spirits to barrels, are handmade in Missouri. Stone Hill Winery was originally established in 1847 and was the second largest winery in the US, shipping over a million gallons a year! Prohibition came and the winery went. In 1965 Jim and Betty Held bought the dilapidated winery and started renovations. Today Stone Hill is one of Missouri’s oldest and most awarded wineries. Stone Hill is now operated by Jon Held and his wife Karen.
Traveling Tea started as a traveling tea shop at local farmer’s markets. In 2013, owner Kateri Meyer opened a permanent location on Sutton Blvd in Maplewood. When she first started, Traveling Tea carried about 12 varieties of tea, now they have nearly 100! About 90% of Traveling Tea’s selection is organic and around 25% is Fair or Direct Trade, along with about a dozen of their own custom blends. Traveling Tea’s mission is to provide affordable and quality, loose leaf tea for every taste.
Founded in 2011, Urban Chestnut has become the biggest craft brewery in St. Louis, with two breweries and a test brewery in St. Louis and one in Wolnzach, Germany. Under the direction of Brewmaster Florian Kuplent, Urban Chestnut has produced many award winning beers including a house favorite Zwickel Bavarian Lager. Urban Chestnut is also working diligently to reduce their carbon footprint. In 2015 Urban Chestnut became Missouri first LEED Certified brewery in Missouri.
